Shaun is an e-commerce visionary. For more than 15 years, he has led the development of innovative solutions to significantly improve site search for online retailers. Ask him how site search became his life’s work, and he will tell you a story about his brother Grant and a Sunday hangover. Grant, Shaun says, had the original idea of improving search results based on relevance. As a result, GlobalBrain was born in 1998 and purchased by NBCi in 2000. In 2001, Shaun and his fellow founders bought back the patented technology and formed SLI Systems. In 2013, SLI Systems (SLI.NZ) launched its IPO on the New Zealand Exchange. Today, SLI is the most chosen SaaS-based site search solution for U.S. Internet Retailers Top 1,000 companies. Shaun has a background in software development and a doctorate in artificial intelligence from the University of Canterbury in New Zealand.
Chris joined SLI in 2010 after previously working at a number of end to end eCommerce agencies in both a developer and customer management roles. In his time at SLI he has overseen the implementations of over 170 sites in the UK and manages the EMEA Customer Success Team who work with each of SLI’s clients to optimise and increase eCommerce revenue through SLI’s products.
Mark Frary is a regular contributor to The Times and Sunday Times as well as other leading publications on business, technology and travel and has won numerous awards for his journalism.
He has written nine books, including popular science books, The Origins of the Universe for Dummies, How to Get a Sofa Around A Corner and Freaky Future, as well as Aiming High, a biography of skiing pioneer Erna Low. His latest book on cryptology, Codes, is due out later this year.
Mark took an unusual route into writing. He graduated from University College London in astronomy and physics and went on to smash particles together at the CERN nuclear physics laboratory in Geneva. His route into journalism was via a role as technical editor for the International Organization for Standardization (ISO).
He regularly speaks at conferences on technology, entrepreneurialism, social media and travel.
Mark has been heading up digital at PetsPyjamas for the last 4 years, seeing the company grow from a year old start-up to the UK’s leading dedicated pet-friendly travel operator and largest marketplace for pet accessories and gifts.
Previous roles include leading the e-commerce team at Associated Newspapers and Operations Manager at SHOP.COM. With a Master’s degree in Computer Science and a background in database development, data and analytics play an important part in all his work.
Retailing online is central to Angus’ career. In 1995 he joined WHSmith’s Customer Systems team shortly after they had received the UK’s first secure online customer order. In 1999 he was a member of the launch team for WHSmith.co.uk. Having led strategy, business planning and marketing in retail, wholesale and publishing Angus returned to lead WHSmith’s online team in 2006. In recent years WHSmith’s online team have grown sales and profit through offer development, replatforms and cost management.
Matt Healey is a senior Commercial Finance Manager at Get The Label and has been at the company for over six years.
His focus is on delivering projects to the business that positively affect both top line and t bottom line performance.
Previous to this Matt cut his teeth at WM Morrisons Supermarkets PLC. It was here he trained to be a chartered accountant and delivered changes to the systems and processes within the buying teams that led to profitable sales growth.
He is currently working on expanding international sales channels and has undertaken a project that sees Get The Label successfully trading in India.
David is a Senior Product Manager at ASOS, responsible for the strategy and performance of the customers' browsing experience.
Prior to ASOS, David lived and worked in The Netherlands for Fredhopper, Germany for Adidas, India for Infosys and America as well. He's delivered multi-lingual search implementations for over 30 brands worldwide, including names such as Debenhams, Halfords, HP, Kitbag, Nikon, Tesco, Toys 'R' Us, Urban Outfitters and Waitrose.
Primarily interested in onsite search, navigation and visual merchandising, David is currently researching artificial intelligence and the benefits that may bring to the shopping discoverability problem.
Kate Russell has been writing about technology, gaming and the Internet since 1995 and currently appears weekly on BBC2 and BBC World News, reporting for technology programme Click. She is an experienced and adept technology speaker.
She got her first break on TV after being encouraged to apply for a job advertising for a "young & funky" female presenter who knew about videogames for a new show on Nickelodeon. Kate got the job and presented the show for three series, co-hosting with Mike McClean and an animated fish called Bert.
Kate was a regular expert on the sofa at ITV's Daybreak and various other TV and radio stations, she also writes columns for National Geographic Traveller magazine. Her first book 'Working the Cloud' and companion blog workingthecloud.biz was published in March.
In addition to her prolific writing and TV career Kate speaks regularly at technology events and conferences and in schools and Universities inspiring the next generation of female technologists. She is also gets involved in policy meetings that aim to shape the way the Internet is governed in the UK.
In 2013 she crowd funded more than 400% of her target to write a science fiction novel.
She still finds time to run 6.5k three times a week and spends far too much time on Twitter advising people about the best web resources for their day-to-day needs.

Ian joined SLI Systems in 2013 having previously held senior sales leadership positions at RedEye, Silverpop and Ensighten. He has an enthusiastic and engaging way with audiences and his lead-by-example approach has generated a successful track record of developing sales growth within all major sectors over his 20 year software and SaaS career.
